Our Cows

Our Cows

Our dairy herds enjoy excellent welfare standards.

They live out during the long daylight hours between the months of May and September, when they graze on clean pastures thanks to Shetland’s pristine natural environment. In the harsh winter months they are kept indoors and their main forage is silage cut from locally grown grass. The cows are milked twice a day at set times. They’re very at home and familiar with the routine.

There are a variety of breeds to be found within our herds including:

Holstein

Friesian

Holstein x Friesian

Ayrshire

Montbeliarde

We love our happy, healthy cows!
